Founded in the belief that we must address the inequities that exist within our school system. 1Oakland is a campaign led by families, educators, and community leaders to urge and support our community to develop a unified system of public schools equitably delivering an excellent education for all students.

We know that it will take years to address and disrupt historical cycles of injustice. We have the opportunity to catalyze change for our students, so let’s get to work.
We believe in a society that is fair and just, and where everyone, especially our children, is provided the opportunity to realize their full potential.
Despite the enormity of the challenges Oakland’s schools face, we believe that the Oakland community is committed to every student.
